      Formed at the AGM in 2014, the objectives of the Civics, Citizenship and Political Literacy Working Group are: • To support civics and citizenship for all students in New Zealand Aotearoa • To improve working relationships between teachers and the NZPSA - to consider how political scientists can help professional development of educators and support teaching and learning • To help inform national conversations about civics and citizenship in a period of rapid change

      The Environmental Policy and Politics Network (EPPN) was created in 2012 to provide a platform for those with an interest in environmental politics/policy to discuss themes and matters of common interest.

    • Gender and Politics Network
      The Gender and Politics Network was created to provide a platform for scholars and other professionals who share an interest in issues and debates around gender and politics. The group’s aims are: 1. To promote the study of gender and politics within mainstream political science and other related disciplines. 2. To build a network of scholars interested in investigating the different aspects of the relationship between gender and politics. 3. To have a direct and real impact on the practice, teaching and the study of politics. 4. To provide a platform for exchange and facilitate contact and communication between scholars engaged in the study of gender and politics. 5. To facilitate research co-operation on topics in the areas of gender and politics, by promoting equality in the profession. 6. To organise, initiate and invite contributions on gender politics at the NZPSA conferences, workshops and other events, as well as awarding prizes.

    • International Relations Network
      The International Relations Network (IRN) provides a platform for New Zealand-based academics and postgraduate studies with an interest in the study of global, international, and transnational political phenomena to discuss themes of common interest and to explore projects for research cooperation. The network connects New Zealand-based scholars of international politics and stimulates collaborative contributions to NZPSA conferences.

    • Political Communication Network
      Members of the Political Communication Network employ a wide range of research methods and analytical perspectives to advance our understanding of the practices, content, and implications of political communication. The Network recognises that political communication is produced by multitude of actors, including – but not limited to – political parties, news media, governmental institutions, international organisations, interest groups, social movements, and digital citizens.

    • Political Theory Network
      The Political Theory Network was established at the NZPSA AGM in 2008 to promote the development of political theory and to provide a supportive environment for academics, postgraduates and other interested parties in the field within Aotearoa New Zealand. We organise a political theory stream at the annual NZPSA conference, and aim to keep each other informed of our recent publications, visiting theorists and related theory events in the region.
