Professional Teaching Fellow positions at the University of Auckland

08 Oct 2024 3:09 PM | Will Dreyer (Administrator)

The University of Auckland | Waipapa Taumata Rau School of Social Sciences is seeking expressions of interest for two Professional Teaching Fellow (PTF) positions. The positions will convene and teach POLITICS 222 Public Policy: Actors, Processes and Politics and POLITICS 256 Critical Security Studies. Both courses are presently scheduled for the second semester of 2025. These are two separate courses with different teaching needs and the EOIs for each will be considered separately.

For more information about POLITICS 222, please visit this link

For more information about POLITICS 256, please visit this link.

We expect approximately 120 students in each course. The final contract for each will depend upon enrolments, but might be around 340 hours, or 16 hours per week over a period of 21 weeks. This will include teaching and some marking, to be discussed with the Course Director.

We expect to appoint at PTF 1. As an indication, the total 2024 annual salary for a PTF 1 was $100,696. That will be pro-rated for the hours worked. A similar contract for a Stage II course in 2024 was around  $15,464.55.

If you would like to be considered for one or both of these positions, please send an Expression of Interest (1 page maximum) and a current CV to me, the Major and Specialisation Leader for Politics and IR, Associate Professor Stephen Winter.

Any questions should also be directed to Stephen.

The closing date for Expressions of Interest is 5pm on 31 October 2024.
