Kia ora koutou,

This year we have two postions on the NZPSA Executive (President and Treasurer) open for nominations and election at the AGM.

The position descriptions, as set out in the constitution, are as follows:

President/Tumuaki – The President shall attend and chair the AGM, and any Council meetings. The President shall see to it that the business of the Association is faithfully transacted and the AGM’s resolutions are enacted in accord with the Association’s rules and objectives; shall have the power to set up national working parties where necessary to fulfill those objectives; and shall present a report to the Association’s AGM.

Treasurer/Kaitiaki Pūtea – The Treasurer shall attend all general meetings and participate in Council meetings; shall receive all monies due to the Association and disburse under authority of the general meeting or the Executive all monies payable by the Association; shall keep proper books of account, prepare financial statements as required, prepare an annual balance sheet, and shall produce all such account books as are required by the AGM or the Executive; shall provide a written report for the AGM; shall file an annual financial statement to the Registrar for Incorporated Societies; and shall carry out such other duties as the general meeting or the Executive require.

At this stage we are calling for nominations for these two positions, which are open to all current NZPSA members. You are welcome to self-nominate but a seconder will be required at the AGM. If we receive more than one nomination for either or both positions, we will request a brief bio/statement and photo from each nominee so that information can be forwarded to the membership with the AGM papers. A secret ballot will then be held at the AGM for either/both positions as required. In order to facilitate this, please email through your nominations by replying to this email by 14 October.

We are also seeking two volunteers to act as judges for the NZPSA Publication Prize. This will require reading the nominated publications (two books at this stage), writing some comments and conferring with the other judges prior to the conference. On the plus side, you will get hard copies of nominated books to keep! If you are interested, please get in touch with Jeremy to put your name forward.

Ngā mihi,

Luke Oldfield
