First of all, my apologies for the late follow-up from the biennial conference and AGM in mid-November. As some of you are aware, for me the conference came in the middle of a fellowship in Taiwan and between racing from and back to Taipei and doing all the other things that needed to be done in December, this task fell by the wayside. But I do want to reiterate how grateful the Executive and the wider NZPSA membership are for the excellent conference at the University of Otago on November 19-21. The presentations and conversations were wonderful to hear and be a part of. I'd particularly like to thank David Jenkins and Janine Hayward for leading the organising team at Otago for making sure everything ran smoothly - your hard work is very much appreciated!

As discussed at the AGM, the financial statement for 2024-25 was slightly delayed, but you can now click these links to read the statement and the Treasurer's report. We are able to monitor how many reads of these documents there are, so will assume that this constitutes approval of the statements unless you contact us by reply email to ask a question or raise a concern.

On the Executive roles, I would again like to thank and congratulate Lara Greaves for being elected as the new NZPSA | TKTTOA President. I am sure Lara will be an outstanding leader for the Association as we continue to bed in our new website, membership system, and conference/network meeting rotation. Lara will formally take up the role from February 1.

We did not receive any nominees for the role of Treasurer at the AGM, so are now making a call to the whole membership for someone to please step up and take on this position. During the break, Luke Oldfield also informed me that he was no longer able to continue in the role of Executive Secretary for this year, so this means we are also looking for nominees for this important role. I again implore anyone who may be able to take on either of these roles to please put your hand up, as the Association cannot work without a functioning Executive. You can put your name forward by replying to this email.

Lastly, we have our network workshops to look forward to this year in the absence of a full conference. Please look out for details on funding and timing in the coming months. I know that some Networks (including the International Relations Network and the Political Communication Network) are currently without co-ordinators. Once again, these organisations cannot function without some level of volunteer work, so please consider putting your hand up for these roles if you have the capacity to do so.

This will be my final communication as NZPSA President, so thanks again to everyone who contributed and attended events over the last two years and all the best to the incoming Executive members.
